Ranges

STEP removed lead-contaminated materials from this indoor firing range at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. Once decontaminated, the remaining metal was recycled.
The ammunition used at firing ranges often creates contamination from lead and unexploded ordnance. STEP has recent experience providing investigation as well as remedial services. Remediation may involve bullet removal, soil sifting to separate fragments of ordnance-related metals, and excavation and proper disposal of soil containing lead concentrations that exceed state and federal standards. Whether it’s typical contamination such as lead and explosive residues, or drums of uncharacterized waste pierced by stray bullets, STEP can help with characterization and cleanup.
Because of our construction experience, we can also install new target equipment, upgrade buildings, and demolish old structures that no longer serve a useful purpose.
